The way to climate-change proof farming
This project aims to transform traditional farming into a climate-change-proof agricultural system. Our concept is developed based on the principles of aquaponics, hydroponics and sandponics and is designed to make this technology accessible to the poorest communities. By creating sustainable jobs and income opportunities, this project helps to reduce illegal migration. In doing so, it offers a future at home and creates new opportunities for youth in Africa.

Our goal is to realize our pilot project for ‘The farm of the future’. A farm that generates more food, saves up to 90% water and is climate change proof. We aim to realize this project in Kartong (the Gambia) in 2026.

Our Prototypes
To demonstrate the huge potention of this concept, we designed a small prototype that is easy to apply for people in their own gardens. We also designed a prototype that is ment to deploy on a larger scale. Perfect to feed entire small communities.
Why our system is different
Conventional aquaponics systems are using expensive filtration systems. In our concept the expensive filter is replaced by a sandbed. In this sandbed live the bacteria that filter harmfull nitrates from the water. By using this method we don’t have the costs of an expensive filtration system, but we will have the same results. 100% clean water is returned to the fishtank when it leaves the sandfield.

Crucially, we solve the issue of high water consumption in farming, a major flaw in traditional farming that threatens regional water security.
